I have completed my Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering-biotechnology from the University of Tehran under the supervision of Dr. Rashedi and Dr. Motamedian. My thesis was about system biology and constructing the first manually curated genome-scale metabolic network of the pathogen S. pneumoniae D39. So, I have relied on data obtained from the databases and other models, with curation and validation performed on experimental data from the literature. Our aim was to introduce a strategy by integration of transcriptomic data with the model, to find target genes for growth reduction of the pathogen and their importance in the various infection sites.
I am also interested in the reconstruction of metabolic networks and biomedical applications of metabolic modeling.
Dissertation title: A systematic strategy using a reconstructed genome-scale metabolic network for pathogen Streptococcus pneumoniae D39 to find novel potential drug targets
