What am I doing? In my thesis, Metabolism of Thioalkalivibrio versutus strain used in natural gas desulfurization process would be regulated and the desulfurization would be optimized. This would be done by overcoming the intracellular constraints of cell via adding adequate amount of proper additives to up-regulate or down-regulate related pathways. The pathways are determined from a genome-scale metabolic model constructed by constraint-based modeling.  In this way, the genome-scale metabolic model of the strain would be constructed and integrated with extracted transcriptome data.

Why desulfurization is important? The presence of sulfur compounds in fossil fuels, including natural gas, has several disadvantages including the following:

1- H2S and mercaptans are highly corrosive compounds and their presence in natural gas corrodes transmission pipelines.

2- Sulfur compounds are very toxic and in case of leakage from pipelines in low doses, they cause poisoning and lethality.

3- Combustion of these compounds leads to the production of SOx pollutants in the atmosphere, followed by the release of pollutants into the atmosphere causing acid rain.

4- The presence of sulfur in fossil fuels leads to a decrease in the heat of combustion of the fuel.

Why Biodesulfurization? Conventional Sulfur Recovery Unit (SRU) is a unit which uses chemical catalysts to remove sulfur compounds. This is a unit with plenty of operational complications, consumes a lot of energy, full of hazards and in most cases uneconomical. This process is done in High Temperature and High Pressure. Contains several complicated steps and in most cases finally some sulfur is burned. So what could be done? What is the solution?

BIODESULFURIZATION: An easy process done in ambient pressure and temperature.

Who am I? I am a process engineer. Process is a wide concept and chemical engineering helps to catch this view. I am interested in chemical engineering and I learned from him/her (because chemical engineering is like a human body who talks with me) how to make balance. I learned that nothing disappears in the world, so we should try to make best balance, even in mass, momentum or energy and this called optimization. I am a chemical engineer who knows to make balances on chemical processes or biochemical processes, on a refinery or on a microbe/cell. I do work on SYSTEMS BIOLOGY and metabolic engineering. I know MATLAB and constraint based modeling. I do my Ph.D. thesis on optimizing Biodesulfurization from natural gas using systems biology and metabolic engineering, because I love Environment.

I am expert in HSE (Health, Safety and Environment). I know risk assessment techniques and risk based thinking. I’m fluent on COMSOL, Aspen HYSYS, PHAST and ALOHA. I am a CHEMICAL ENGINEERING. To know me better I should say that:
